Bengal and Savannah Cat Breeder Information & Background

My Mission Statement

Welcome! We are glad you have chosen to pursue purchasing a Bengal or Savannah kitten with Urban Safari Cattery, and we are looking forward to getting to know you, as you are getting to know us! We invite you to read through our website as we have spent a lot of time developing the information for you, and happily share this information even if you choose to adopt with another breeder. The most important point is that you become comfortable with the breeder you will be working with, and feel that they are comfortable with you.

We look forward to the beginning of a successful and exciting new kitten for you!

Warm Regards,

Teresa, Urban Safari Cattery

For thousands of years people have revered the wild cat for its physical beauty, graceful strength, power and mystique. The goal of our breeding program is to produce the exotic look of the wild cat with a gentle, yet spirited nature of the domestic. The traits I strive for are:

  • strong genetic health
  • confident, outgoing temperaments
  • vivid colors
  • bold patterns
  • large size
  • wild looking heads
  • stealthy movement

Healthy cats are happy cats! Health, temperament, and conformation to breed standards are the primary goals of our TICA registered cattery. How do we do breed healthy, happy cats? Human interaction, love, and top quality veterinary care are provided from the first day of your kittens life. We guarantee that your kitten will be healthy and free of illness on its arrival to your home. When choosing the parents to be of your baby kitten, we pay close attention to genetics, champion line pedigrees, and conformation to the Bengal and Savannah breed standards. All of our breeding cats are routinely checked to insure they have HEALTHY HEARTS, and are FELINE LEUKEMIA/ FELINE IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS NEGATIVE, and are FREE OF TRITRICHOMONAS and other protozoan parasites.

I have encountered many non-human creatures on my lifes journey. I have trained and competed Appaloosa and Galiceno horses for barrel racing, raised calves and pigs for Future Farmers of America, helped my father raise and train Pointer and Setter bird dogs, and have been actively involved with the U.S Fish and Wildlife rehabilitation program. From raising orphaned baby squirrels to rescuing and rehabiliting an alligator, I have found each and every one of these animals to be a truly unique and wondrous being. Animals have brought fullness to my life especially through my involvement in the cat fancy and I truly believe that my experiences with my Bengal and Savannah cats have been an integral part of making me who I am today.

I have studied and completed my education in:

  • Veterinary Technology
  • Exotic Feline Husbandry
  • Exotic Feline Handling
  • Pet Assisted Therapy

I follow the ethics of the following organizations:

  • The International Cat Association
  • The International Bengal Cat Society
  • The International Bengal Breeders Association
  • The International Savannah Breeders Association
  • The Feline Conservation Federation

Through my association in the Feline Conservation Federation, I have had the opportunity to meet and gain valuable knowledge from some amazing people such as:

  • Dr. Jim Sanderson, world reknowned scientist with the Small Cat Conservation Alliance and Conservation International
  • Chilean wildlife rehabber Fernando Vidal
  • Brazilian small felid researcher Anne-Sophie Bertrand
  • Dr. Bhagavan Antle, one of the World’s foremost trainers of big cats and other exotic animal

I actively exhibit my Bengal and Savannah cats in TICA sanctioned cat shows where I not only gauge the progress of my breeding program but have made some valued friendships. Many of our cats and their offspring have attained Champion and Supreme Grand Champion titles as well as receiving Region and International awards. Just to name a few:

  • Regional Winner, Supreme Grand Champion Wildforest Johnny B Good
  • Regional and International Winner, Champion Spottedpaws Knight in White Satin
  • Champion Prattmandu Too Marbelous for Words
  • Regional and International Winner, Jujukat Hollywood Knight of LaGallerie

Breeding Bengals and Savannahs is not a business for us, it is a passion. It is about a love for the breed, and about understanding the genetics, physiology, and temperament. It is about a sense of satisfaction of creating a certain look within the breed. Most of all, though, it is about nurturing a litter of kittens then seeing the joy they bring into people's lives.

"In all things, even in the most recondite mysteries of the soul, nature is the first and finest of teachers."
